About BEK Law

Blockwick Eisenstein Krahenbuhl, LLC (formerly Wells, Love & Scoby, LLC) has been a pre-eminent construction and real estate law firm in Colorado for over forty years. Founded in 1975 by David Wells and Terry Scoby, the firm originally focused on design and construction claims and litigation, as well as mechanics’ lien work, and established a widely recognized expertise in this area. Bill Love soon joined the firm adding extensive experience in real estate law, with a particular focus on development, land use and common interest community law. Led by both its founding and current members, the firm grew in recognition, size and clientele during the 1980’s and 1990’s. Into the twenty first century, Blockwick Eisenstein Krahenbuhl, LLC has continued the firm’s tradition of high level practice in design and construction claims and litigation, mechanics’ liens, real estate development, complex commercial transactions, and common interest community law, utilizing the most modern technologies and methods.

While David Wells and Terry Scoby have retired from private practice, and Bill Love died in 2002, the current members – Craig Blockwick and David Eisenstein* – average over 40 years of legal experience in these areas. Clients include substantial residential and commercial developers; both large and small commercial and residential general contracting firms; subcontractors; architectural and design firms; public entities and municipalities; and a variety of other businesses and individuals.

The philosophy of Blockwick Eisenstein Krahenbuhl, LLC is to provide the highest levels of legal and practical expertise at a reasonable cost. In complex transactions we seek to provide necessary legal services and common-sense advice in order to promote a successful and dispute free result. Our objective in claims and litigation is first to explore and if possible achieve an appropriate resolution without trial. But if that cannot be accomplished, we will fully develop and present the claim or defense for trial and have successfully done so in cases and arbitrations in Colorado and elsewhere. Blockwick Eisenstein Krahenbuhl, LLC endeavors to keep legal expense commensurate with the amount of the claim, so that parties are litigating primarily about their dispute, and not about the attorneys’ fees they have spent on the dispute. Since the inception of Blockwick Eisenstein Krahenbuhl, LLC, these principles have well served both the firm and its clients.
